Fire Guard F-1

If a required fire protection system is not working in a building, a fire watch is needed. A person with a Certificate of Fitness must do the fire watch.

·         First four hours: If the area is less than 50,000 square feet, the building owner can choose a trained person to do the fire watch.

·         After four hours: Only fire guards with a Certificate of Fitness can do the fire watch.

·         This Certificate of Fitness is for one specific person. It can be used anywhere in New York City.
